Uwe Mundlos was a member of the far-right terrorist group National Socialist Underground (NSU). He was born on December 31, 1973, in Jena, East Germany. Along with two other NSU members, Uwe Böhnhardt and Beate Zschäpe, Mundlos was involved in the killing of nine immigrants and a policewoman between 2000 and 2007.
On November 4, 2011, Mundlos and Böhnhardt were found dead in a burned-out caravan in Eisenach, Germany, with gunshot wounds. It is believed that Mundlos killed Böhnhardt before committing suicide.
The NSU group, which was active in Germany from the late 1990s until 2011, was responsible for a series of racially motivated murders and bombings. The trial of Beate Zschäpe for her involvement in the crimes concluded in 2018, during which she was sentenced to life in prison.
